Wol kan door wrijving kleine bolletjes (pillen) vormen. Dat is normaal bij natuurlijke vezels; een kledingroller of ontpiller maakt het item weer als nieuw.

Wol is van nature zelfreinigend. Vaak is buiten luchten genoeg in plaats van wassen.
